137 For a DWB

Perhaps there is some justice in the brutal slayings of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams who were literally taken down as if they were Bonnie  and Clyde.

Their first crime was DWB (Driving While Black), second they were drinking, doing Crack, They were Mentally Ill and Homeless. Timothy Russell was not a Virgin to the system, he had a rap sheet.  Under the Influence of Drugs and Alcohol a normal person’s judgement is impaired, but if you are Mentally Ill, Magnify that number times Ten. This is why they supposedly became Burt Reynolds from Smokey and The Bandit and Left Buford T. Justice No Choice but to Follow them in Hot Pursuit. I do agree that fleeing is against the law, but. what happened next was not necessary.

The Cleveland Police then decided Russell could use the car as a deadly weapon and began shooting at them. According to the Police they could possibly be armed so The Police fired off 137 rounds of ammunition, at one point Officer Michael Brelo standing on top of the car firing directly into it.

Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams, Homeless, Mentally Ill, and UNARMED were trapped in that vehicle, their Death Chamber.

Michael Brelo was brought before the courts as the Scapegoat, and I am in no way minimizing his barbaric behaviour, but remember there were other officers on scene with him as well. The judge had to take that into consideration, and the police knew that. They thought they scored a win.

Now comes the President of The Cleveland Police Union basically saying that Russell and Williams deserved to be shot down like Bonnie Clyde , that they were the bad guys. Police are supposed to shoot to mame and/or wound as to bring the criminal in to be processed. They have the right to be Innocent until proven GUILTY. The Police are not hired to be The Executioners.
